Grupo Espíritas A dor física produz sensações; o sofrimento moral produz sentimentos. Mas, como já vimos, no sensório íntimo, sensação e sentimento confundem-se e são uma só e mesma coisa.      O prazer e a dor estão, pois, muito menos nas coisas externas do que em nós mesmos; incumbe, pois, a cada um de nós, regulando suas sensações, disciplinando seus sentimentos, dominar umas e outras e limitar-lhes os efeitos.      Epíteto dizia: “As coisas são apenas o que imaginamos que são.” Assim, pela vontade podemos domar, vencer a dor ou, pelo menos, fazê-la redundar em nosso proveito, fazer dela meio de elevação.      Dá-se o mesmo com todos os heróis, com todos os grandes caracteres, com os corações generosos, com os espíritos mais eminentes. Sua elevação mede-se pela soma dos sofrimentos que passaram. Ante a dor e a morte, a alma do herói e do mártir revela-se em sua beleza comovedora, em sua grandeza trágica, que toca às vezes o sublime e o nimba de uma luz inextinguível. But, as we have seen, in the intimate sensory, sensation and feeling confused and are one and the same. Pleasure and pain are therefore much less than the external things in ourselves; responsibility, because every one of us, regulating their feelings by disciplining their feelings, dominate one another and limit their effects. Epictetus said: "Things are just what they are imagined." Thus, the will can tame, overcome the pain or at least make it redound to our advantage, to make it through elevation. Give it the same with all the heroes, with all major characters, with generous hearts, with the most eminent minds. Its elevation is measured by the sum of suffering that passed. The face of pain and death, the soul of the hero and the martyr is revealed in a poignant beauty in its tragic grandeur, which sometimes touches the sublime and the nimba an inextinguishable light.
